If you are up for the challenge, give back to KTA (the organization that maintains and builds our awesome trails we ride) , and/or volunteer, then make sure you sign up for the first annual Spence Mtn Mayhem XC Mtb Race!
If you don’t want to race, but want to be part of the race day fun, then support the event by volunteering. Please reach out to Zach Gilmour (zach@zachsbikes.com or via chat message) if you would like to volunteer. Most of the volunteer opportunities are assisting the races at the aid stations. Of course, you can come to just cheer on your team mates, coaches, and friends.
The race organizer is offering a special PROMO code to waive your entry fees if you are 14-18yrs old (racing the Junior category). However, if you want the post race lunch, they ask that you purchase that.
There are 3 course options (Cat 1 -28 miles, Cat 2 – 18 miles, & Cat 3 – 10 miles). Most of our in-season practice rides range from 7 miles to 10 miles. If you are unsure if you are ready for this, or want input, what course is right for you, don’t hesitate to ask Zach, Kyle, Josh, or Lillian.
This event is not a NICA sanctioned event (not subject to their course guidelines, rules, or insurance).
This is an OBRA event, requiring either an annual license, or a one-day license (you can purchase at the event site).
Coaches and Parents – I highly recommend if you enjoy challenging yourself in a race venue, to take advantage of the opportunity to race a venue in our own backyard.
For race details and information – go to their signup website. Hopefully that site will answer any specifics there. Since our team is not organizing this event, I rather you direct specific EVENT questions to event organizer. There is a button at the bottom right hand corner of the page, that you can use to contact race organizer. Questions regarding race prep, race day advice, equipment and clothing choice, and nutrition, those are questions our coaches can assist with.
In our “Team Forms & Resources” – I have files and links regarding nutrition and race day checklists, that are also helpful.
Since this is not a “Team” function, I have turned off the RSVP option. But feel free to let us know you will be there, to hopefully inspire your teammates!
