The Oregon League NEEDS you!

26 Aug 2022 by Lillian Schiavo

Did you know on race day, it can take over 50 volunteers to put on a League race? This means in one race weekend, AMY, the volunteer goddess, has to find (beg/plead) over 100 volunteers for Saturday & Sunday. In fact, if you are an adult, with a viable pulse, she will ask you at the pre-ride or the event, to help out on race day.
As someone who has organized events, it can incredibly stressful on the day of the event, trying to find people to help out, because you didn’t get enough volunteers.

If you are like me, a planner, and likes to know what I’m doing when I’m out of town for these events, I would rather sign up ahead of time. Amy is VERY coercive, and will most likely talk you into helping out.

Never been a race crew volunteer before? no biggie.
What does the League need help with?
Course set up (Friday)
Infield setup (Friday)
Pre-Ride Crossing Guard
Course Marshalls
Roving Marshall (on bike)
Staging Volunteers
Sweeper (on bike)
Finish Line support

Is this an ALL day thing? No.
Most of the volunteers are parents and family friends/relatives, who want to watch your teen race. So you can volunteer either in the morning or afternoon.

Can I volunteer on Saturday, when the North Conference is racing? ABSOLUTELY!

Can I volunteer on Friday to setup course? YEP!

What’s involved? What do I do? The Oregon League actually has job descriptions and videos for many of the volunteer positions, so you know what you are signing up for. (dang, they are organized!!!!)

When can I sign up? NOW! In fact, they prefer, to get most of the volunteer positions filled BEFORE the weekend. The earlier the better, so you can pick the sweet positions!

Here is the link, which is where you sign up, and find ALL of the needed positions and descriptions.
